Central Office Engineer
| Job Description: | Requires experience in the areas of routing, switching, servers, GUI, software/hardware platforms, IP services, and Ethernet. Technologies may include VoIP, MPLS, Unified Messaging, IP Video, PON, ADSL 2+, wireless, and much more. Responsibilities include design, implementation, and technical support of system platforms, products and services. Also, responsible to initiate the development of specifications for new complex products and/or services in the areas of VoIP, MPLS and wireless networks. Also utilize fundamental knowledge of power, transport, TDM, and ATM to plan and design a migration path to newer technologies. Project manage through assistance with research, recommendation, and implementation of value-added products and services to enhance the functionality of various offerings to customers. Evaluate, select and apply engineering techniques, procedures and criteria using judgment in making adaptations and modifications. Work with a number of different industry leading vendors for platform selection, software development, and strategic implementation. Assist in the analysis and resolution of specific performance, reliability issues, and platform and/or system security. |
| Job Qualifications: | Bachelor's degree or equivalent plus 3-5 years experience in telecommunications. |
